History was made this week when Augusta National Golf Club announced it was admitting its first ever female members. Was this a monumental moment or an old club finally catching up with the times? Two females will finally be able to flash their member cards at Augusta National. The place where the Masters is played has finally caught up with the 21st century. The big question is why did it take so long?

Female golfers have had their own league since the 1950s. They have been able to join various country clubs around the country for years as well. So why did it take Augusta so long to adjust? In this day and age, men and women are equal, so it would only make sense for them to be able to join the same golf club freely.
