Though she wowed critics in 2007 with her debut performance in the movie-musical 'Hairspray,' actress Nikki Blonsky has had a tough time staying in the spotlight - so tough, in fact, that she's since taken a job selling shoes.

So says E! Online, anyway. According to the report, Blonsky is now working behind the register at a high-end shoe boutique in her hometown of Great Neck, N.Y.

Blonsky has held the job for about a week, much to the confusion of her customers.

"Customers come in and see her and ask, 'Oh my God! What are you doing here?,'" a source told E! Online. "Are you shopping?', and she laughs and says, 'No, I'm working.'"

Though the source adds Blonsky's new gig is "a little uncomfortable" for her, she's more than willing to sign autographs and even sing for her customers.

Blonsky, who recently appeared on the now-canceled ABC Family series 'Huge,' is "supposedly working on a project that will catapult her career, something bigger than 'Hairspray,'" according to the source.

In the meantime, we hope they're giving her a discount.
