10 Very Strange Jobs That Actually Pay Pretty Well

As kids, we typically had to listen to adults preach to us about how we needed to study hard in school to become doctors and lawyers.

However, what they didn’t tell us is that it was possible to earn six figures doing other, more unusual work.

The people at PayDay One recently compiled a list of 10 unusual jobs that pay well, based on information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, as well as other sources.

According to their research, people who earn their living cooking aboard Australian submarines can earn more than $187,000 a year with their annual bonuses and allowances. That might sound like a lot of money for a Navy cook, but then again they do live and work in a steel pressure tube thousands of feet under the sea.

Other unusual jobs, such as “ethical” computer hackers can earn an average of $92,000 a year, while those who help others decide which wine complements their meal, known as master sommeliers, can earn a salary up to $160,000 annually.

Airplane repo men don’t appear to be going hungry, either, earning anywhere between $10,000 to $90,000 for each plane they repossess.

Even though some of the jobs on the list do not break the six-figure mark, the folks at PayDay One felt like professions such as psychics, embalmers, and flavorists were just interesting enough to be worth mentioning.
